Double Chin Treatment in Philadelphia, PA
Located in Bala Cynwyd and serving Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Maple Shade, New Jersey, and the surrounding area, The Falcone Center for Functional, Cosmetic and Integrative Medicine offers treatment for the double chin.
What Causes a Double Chin? What Double Chin Treatments Are Available?
At its most basic, a double chin (also known as submental fullness) occurs when a layer of subcutaneous fat builds up in the neck area underneath your chin, and then sags because of additional weight gain, or even just the natural aging process. Double chins are extremely common, and just about everyone will experience it as they get older.
The good news is that Dr. Falcone and The Falcone Center for Functional, Cosmetic and Integrative Medicine provides a variety of procedures that can help reduce—or even eliminate—the look of your double chin.
Kybella™: Your Next Double Chin Treatment?
Kybella™ is an FDA-approved, prescription-only injection made up of deoxycholic acid.
After Dr. Falcone has designed a double chin treatment plan around your specific needs, she will administer Kybella™ directly into the fat underneath your chin. While you may experience some redness or bruising and swelling initially, most patients experience visible results with Kybella™ within two to four treatments.
In fact, the manufacturer claims that in clinical trials, as many as 72% of participants experienced, at least, a one-grade composite improvement after a six-course treatment with Kybella™.
SmartLipo® vs. Traditional Liposuction for Your Double Chin
If you’re looking to sculpt your body and have been frustrated with your results after diet and exercise, liposuction may be your next choice.
Traditional liposuction can be a fairly traumatic process resulting in a somewhat longer recovery time. Traditional liposuction can also disrupt more connective tissue than some of the newer body techniques resulting in skin laxity. To address both of these concerns, a lot of different liposuction techniques have entered the market, including SmartLipo® by Cynosure.
During your SmartLipo® procedure, Dr. Falcone will send pulses of laser energy at three different wavelengths (1064nm, 1320nm, and 1440nm) to liquefy subcutaneous fat, which will then be removed through a cannula. In some instances, Dr. Falcone might not use a cannula at all, instead opting for the fat to be naturally absorbed by your body.
*This way, you might be able to achieve many of the same results from your double chin treatment, without the invasiveness and with less recovery time!
Is PrecisionTX™ a Good Double Chin Treatment?
Whereas SmartLipo® is intended to address body contouring, Cynosure designed the PrecisionTX™ device to specifically address the neck and jawline, along with ablation of axillary sweat glands. Using only one wavelength, this makes it an ideal double chin treatment for many of Dr. Falcone’s patients.
Compared to surgical techniques, though, PrecisionTX™ might be best for minimal tightening of the skin around the neck and jowl, although it will often come with less recovery time.
